We welcome ski industry insider Lowri Williams to Savile Row Travel
Having been in the ski industry for nearly 10 years, Lowri Williams is an expert ski insider. She knows what’s on, what’s new and all the best places in the mountains. From the well known resorts and hotels to boutique hidden gems she is always happy to chat through your ski wish list.
“That’s the best thing about contacting a travel agent, we give you ideas and places you’ve never heard of. Your holidays are what you work towards all year and getting it right so that you have the best time is so important. There is nothing I love more than hearing about the holiday when clients return, it’s always essential to get feedback.”
We are delighted to welcome Lowri to the Savile Row Travel team. You can reach Lowri on lowri@savilerowtravel.co.uk or 01491 575987.
Lowri’s all round favourite resort is Whistler in Canada. It’s got everything from family skiing to friends having a good time. Yes, there is the jetlag, but nothing beats it better than waking up early and hitting the slopes.
Her favourite hidden gem has to be the Hotellerie de Mascognaz in Champoluc, Italy. Accessible only via ski-doo so, the hotel collects guests to whisk them up to an old farming village where the buildings have been beautifully and sympathetically converted. If you want to stay somewhere a little different with delicious food, this is the place.
Ultimate luxury that has it all? It has to be The Chedi in Andermatt, Switzerland. Boasting one of the largest spas in the Alps you can also dine at the highest Japanese restaurant in the world. The hotel is a mix of alpine chic and Asian expression, with spacious rooms and incredible service. It’s close enough to Zurich to go for a long ski weekend and Andermatt itself is big enough to enjoy for a full week.
If the après scene is just as important as your skiing, the Elizabeth Arthotel in Ischgl, Austria, right next to the lifts, is the place to stay and ski. Once you shut your hotel room door you’re in luxury, a million miles away from ski boot stomping in Schatzi.
With regard to chalets, there is one that particularly stands out in Lowri’s mind. Chalet Grand Corniche in Les Gets has won ‘France’s Best Ski Chalet’ a couple of times. Once you step inside you can see why. The views alone sell this place. Or is it the sauna with a glass window looking onto Mont Blanc? Or the slide that takes you from the bar on the top floor down to the snooker table, gym and cinema room? Plus attentive service and bespoke chef’s menu which your chalet manager goes through with you pre-arrival.
