Situated below Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head, Cape Town offers a rich cultural and industrial heritage, grand splendour and an assurance of activity and excitement. day three
Private Full Day Cape Point & Peninsula Tour
This awe-inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point encompasses magnificent beaches, breath-taking views, and picturesque coastal villages. The Cape Peninsula is one of the world’s most scenic areas and stretches from the City centre to Cape Point. Note: The drive via Chapman’s Peak is subject to the road being open. Ou Kaapse Weg will be used as an alternative route when necessary.
Travel along the Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay, to Hout Bay, a quaint village and fishing harbour with magnificent mountain views and beach. Continue via Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breath-taking coastal drives, to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point which is perceived to be the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Go on to historic Simon’s Town, a village with charming Victorian architecture, a naval base and a large penguin colony at the beautiful Boulders Beach. Boulders Penguin Colony is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African Penguin. Wooden walkways allow visitors to view the penguins in their natural habitat and there is also a new information centre. A lunch stop is made nearby (lunch to own account). End the day with a visit to the well-known Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. The Garden includes five of South Africa’s six different biomes and is world-renowned for the beauty and diversity of the Cape Flora it displays as well as for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. day four
At leisure in Cape Town
You have today free to explore this beautiful city. Depending on what you enjoy doing – there are a range of options we could recommend – from stunning art galleries to historical buildings to explore – from stunning hikes to some of the best restaurants around! Just ask!
day five
Transfer to Franschhoek
Idyllically situated in the Cape Winelands, this peaceful country retreat is one of the oldest towns in South Africa. The once sleepy little village was named Franschhoek, meaning “French Corner” as it was founded by French Huguenots who fled Europe and were seeking a secluded hide-out. They found it in the fertile valley of Franschhoek and this heritage is showcased at the fascinating Huguenot Memorial Museum. The Cape Dutch architecture in much of the village remains remarkably well preserved as restrictions have been placed on the extent of renovations and new construction in order to preserve the spirit of the original settlers. The town’s proximity to Cape Town allows for pleasant day trips during which visitors can explore the area’s many world-class wine estates and impressive range of excellent restaurants or simply browse the quaint, upmarket boutiques strewn along the town’s lovely tree-lined avenues.
Check into Boschendal Farm where you will spend the next three nights.
Suggested hotel: Boschendal Farm
Boschendal Farm, nestled in the picturesque Cape Winelands of South Africa, is a historic estate renowned for its rich heritage and stunning landscapes. Established in 1685, it stands as one of the oldest wine estates in the region, celebrated for its elegant wines and sustainable farming practices. The farm spans over 2,000 hectares, featuring lush vineyards, orchards, and gardens that reflect its commitment to biodiversity and eco-friendly agriculture. Visitors to Boschendal can enjoy a variety of experiences, from wine tastings and gourmet dining to exploring the scenic trails and heritage buildings that dot the property. The estate’s blend of historical charm and modern sustainability initiatives makes it a cherished destination for both locals and tourists seeking an authentic taste of South African viticulture and hospitality.
day SIX
Wine, Choc & Cheese tour
Winemaking is a centuries-old pastime in Cape Town, and there is no shortage of estates that are well-known for the craft. This tour introduces you to the signature wines of the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch regions and treats you to a bit of history along the way. Customised to your preference, you can choose to focus your trip on tasting your favourite varietals or experimenting with the locally grown specialities.
Depart Cape Town and head to Fairview Wine & Cheese, a working farm with a collection of micro-businesses all sharing a common goal – to create artisanal and sustainable produce, focusing on fine wine and cheese. Here you shall enjoy the Beryl Back Tasting experience, including eight wines and a selection of cheeses and olives.
Continue into Franschhoek for a short visit and browse around town before heading to lunch (to own account) at a restaurant or wine estate carefully selected by your guide.
Travel along the beautiful Helshoogte Pass to the historic winemaking town of Stellenbosch with its canal-lined avenues in the shade of giant oak trees and beautifully preserved historic buildings before heading to Waterford Estate for a decadent finale. With the wine cellar built surrounding the courtyard, guests can observe the workings of the winery and get a true feel for the winemaking process without disrupting the tranquillity of their tasting. The Wine and Chocolate Tasting is a unique flavour experience. Kevin Arnold and Chocolatier Richard von Geusau have created a series of dark and milk chocolates that, when paired with their Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Natural Sweet wine, results in a flavour sensation unlike any other. Travel back to your hotel for return in the early evening
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the winemaker or take an intimate cellar tour. Opt for the much-loved wine and cheese pairing, or satisfy your sweet tooth with a wine and chocolate tasting. In between glasses, be sure to look for the vineyard’s art collection. Some estates boast galleries or sculpture gardens that feature local and international artists. In addition to award-winning wine, this region also has a number of spectacular restaurants
