Tour Itinerary
day one
Welcome to Kenya!
Nairobi is the capital of Kenya and East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city, with a vibrant population of 4.5 million. Unique to the city is the proximity of Nairobi National Park, a true wilderness area juxtaposed against the larger urban metropolis. It is the only national park like it in the world and a real embodiment of the human-wildlife conflicts that challenge many African communities who must learn to cohabitate with wildlife on their doorstep.
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to Wilson Airport for your flight to Amboseli National Park. You will then be met by your Elewana Tortilis Camp safari guide at Amboseli Airstrip before a game drive en-route to camp to check-in. Enjoy a delicious lunch with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Check into Tortilis Camp, with a prime location for witnessing the majesty of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. The camp is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn tree, the Acacia Tortilis, and embraces a hill in one of Amboseli’s areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland. Located in a private conservancy bordering the national park, game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both inside the national park and in the conservancy, where guests enjoy exclusivity.
day TWO
Experiences & Activities at Tortilis
Activities include shared game drives in custom 4×4 vehicles, guided walks, bush breakfast and sundowners, cultural visits, a swimming pool, and an optional visit to Cynthia Moss Elephant Research Centre and School support by the Land and Life Foundation.

day four
Check out and fly to Lewa Conservancy
Enjoy an early breakfast in camp before a final game drive en-route to Amboseli Airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Lewa Conservancy.
On arrival at the renowned Lewa Conservancy, you will be met by your Elewana Lewa Safari Camp safari guide and transferred to camp with a game drive en route. Arrive in camp for a leisurely spent afternoon, before departing for sundowners and a night game drive. Return to camp in time for dinner.
Lewa Safari Camp has a stunning location within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, with outstanding game viewing from camp, and views of Mount Kenya to the south and the arid lowlands to the north. Each tent has a thatched roof, verandah, and full en suite bathroom, very much in the ‘Lewa’ style. The central areas have vibrant gardens filled with birds, a sunny verandah, and swimming pool to enjoy during the day, and cozy log fires in the lounge and dining room for chilly evenings.
day five
Experiences & Activities at Lewa
The Lewa Safari Camp guides are based in camp within Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Most are from the neighboring communities and have been guiding within the conservancy for many years, some for over 15 years. All the guides are first class, with Bronze or Silver level Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association certification, and they also receive training directly from the Conservancy to the “Lewa Standard.”
Another walking option is to visit Ngare Ndare forest conservancy. This is a community conservancy to the south of Lewa. There is a canopy walk and river to play in. There are usually elephants in the forest, so you will be escorted by the Lewa walking guide. Additionally, Lewa Safari Camp offers evening horse rides – you can get very close to plains game as they see you as one of their own! “Sundowners” are a safari tradition – after a day of safari, stop, watch the spectacular sunset, traditionally with a gin and tonic in hand! There are also visits available to the local Samburu homesteads.
