Discover intimate luxury in the heart of the Greater Kruger

Serondella, meaning ‘The Place of Elephants’ in Xitsonga, is a 5-star family-orientated boutique safari lodge in the Greater Kruger Park. The newly renovated lodge envelopes one of the most active waterholes in Thornybush, providing world-class wildlife viewing with an intimacy designed to feel like home. The experience is immersive and conservation-focused, led by a specially curated team of guides, allowing guests to feel connected to the natural ecosystem the lodge is privileged to be part of.

Making ample use of space, the lodge facilities are sprawled along the edge of the waterhole and following a small, dry riverbed. A fever-tree garden, a viewing deck with a rim-flow pool, a gym and a bush spa all occupy their own space in peace and privacy.

Suites

Living and dreaming in luxury, the Serondella suites are appointed with superior quality comforts and items that elevate the accommodation experience. These are spaces that can be lived in and enjoyed by every generation, but that also exceed expectations of luxury.

Two private suites are positioned under the trees along the edge of the waterhole. They are designed to sleep two people and offer ample space to relax and unwind in the privacy of the suite. Each room has a comfortable lounge, outside deck, plunge pool, and a privately-positioned bathtub.

Serondella is all about families, and the family suites emphasise comfort and convenience for both parents and children. Two bedrooms, a shared living area, a private kitchen, an outside deck, and a plunge pool offer a place for loved ones to feel at home together.

Willem’s Den is a self-contained suite for larger families offering space, privacy, and comfort with three bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen, lounge, private garden, verandah, boma and plunge pool. This is the perfect place to accommodate different generations in a home-like environment.

Savile Row Travel’s Head of Africa, Steve Upton, says:

“Serondella is a beautifully intimate camp in the Thornybush Reserve, recently renovated and upgraded. Its size (with only two one-bedroom suites, one two-bedroom suite and a three-bedroom cottage) made for personal service, that was beautifully attentive while managing to keep an informal atmosphere. We stayed in their gorgeous two-bedroom suite, complete with a living room and full-width deck overlooking the watering hole. But it was the little touches that really stood out for us, like the heated pools that allowed you to watch the wildlife as it walked past, and the ‘Future Rangers’ packs waiting on the children’s beds on arrival.

Returning from game drives, the team were always ready to look after the kids and bring them dinner, while my wife and I enjoyed a drink at the bar. Alfred, our ranger, was brilliant with the children, introducing them to South Africa’s wildlife in a way that constantly engaged and surprised them – ‘Who Flung Dung?’ taught them just how much there was to learn about the animals from their poo alone!”
