The opening of the Conrad Algarve Hotel in a prime location just twenty minutes from Faro airport and on the doorstep of six of the region’s very best courses has been a game-changer. The hotel is beautifully designed and levels of attention to detail are high throughout. Standard rooms are bright, larger than average and well laid-out with very generous balconies, big rain showers, squishy sofas and chairs to relax in and bathrooms stocked with toiletries from Aromatherapy Associates.

We particularly love the spa: it’s incredibly luxurious and an absolute haven of tranquility featuring private spa cabanas attached to each treatment room. The sauna is flooded with natural light, treatments are high-tech and designed around your needs. You could easily end each day here with a superb massage or signature body treatment followed by time spent relaxing in the sauna and swimming pools.

Fine dining comes courtesy of the beautiful Gusto Restaurant with panoramic views of the Algarve. Head chef Heinz Beck is world-renowned from his tenure at the 3 Michelin-starred Waldorf Astoria Rome Cavalieri and he brings his expertise here with a Mediterranean-inspired menu using local ingredients and a standard befitting a 3 Michelin-star chef.

This modern hotel opened in 2012 and has a sophisticated and stylish look with beautifully designed and spacious rooms. The hotel overlooks a stunning infinity pool with views over the surrounding countryside and a Westerly aspect meaning you can watch the sunset with a cocktail on the terrace. In the evenings giant burners are lit around the pool which look beautiful and create a romantic and intimate environment. Balconies overlook the palms or the pool and are very spacious with a selection of comfortable seating. Rooms are finished to a very high standard and decorated in elegant shades of blue and grey with a flat screen TV, MP3 sound system and a Nespresso coffee machine. Marble bathrooms are stocked with Aromatherapy Associates toiletries and have a large rain shower and separate bath.

One of our favourite parts of the entire hotel is the penthouse Garden Rooftop Suite with its indoor pool and retractable glass roof, expansive sunset-facing terrace, private entrance and private access to the spa. This one bedroom suite is the perfect venue for a proposal, celebrating an anniversary, a birthday dinner or an intimate fully-catered dinner with friends. The pool can be covered to increase floor space and double up the wow factor, or left exposed in the event you fancy a dip during your party.
