Perched high in the beautiful Hakone Mountains southwest of Tokyo, Hakone Ginyu is nothing short of extraordinary
A stunning contemporary spa ryokan, bringing you flawless service and the essence of Japanese flair amid the most soothing of surroundings.
Located among the lush forests of volcanically active Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park around two and a half hours from Tokyo, Hakone Ginyu has serious wow factor. From the moment you arrive at this ultimate city escape, you enter a world of ordered harmony. Seamlessly blending traditional Japanese elements with contemporary touches, Hakone Ginyu offers twenty suites including three resort-style rooms where, in place of tatami mats and futons, there are wooden floors and western beds. Huge windows opening on to a lushly verdant ravine, private open-air onsen baths on your terrace or in a secluded Japanese garden, along with a personal butler on hand to attend all your needs, make the Ginyu one of Hakone’s – and indeed, Japan’s – finest ryokans.
Public bathing is a deep-rooted tradition in Japan, and its importance to the country’s’ heritage is emphasised at the open infinity pool Japanese baths at the resort, where you can laze and contemplate the matchless views at any season. A spa treatment or sauna session will round out the wonderful indulgence of a stay at Ginyu. With beautiful Lake Ashi and its unsurpassed views of Mount Fuji nearby, Hakone Ginyu is an amazing escape from the city and allows you to experience extraordinary serenity amongst some of Japan’s most beautiful natural treasures.
Facilities
You won’t have to travel far for your meals. Both room types boast separate dining areas with a sunken table that allows you to stretch your legs during an elaborate kaiseki meal (an unforgettable tasting menu of fresh, seasonal Japanese delicacies). The resort aesthetic reaches into the Myojo bar, where you can sip drinks while watching the ever-changing scenery. Bouyu is another serene place to unwind, featuring a typical mountain lodge design whilst serving cold drinks and light snacks.
The Meigetsu Suite on the ground floor is the best room in the Ryokan with its own outdoor hot-spring bath.
