A fabulous tented safari at a remote outpost where you can experience luxury gone truly wild
This incredible resort combines authentic luxury, bespoke adventure and restorative escape at a remote turn-of-the-century-inspired outpost defined by great white canvas prospector tents and anticipatory attention to comfort, service, sustenance, and transformative fun.
Clayoquot Wilderness Retreat is a Relais & Chateaux property with 25 canvas residences, carefully arranged along the water’s edge and on the hillside overlooking the estuary. Ensuite tents offer a contemporary interpretation of turn-of-the-centry accommodation, deluxe tents offer a more authentically traditional style of camp luxury, while deluxe family tents offer a bit of both.
Apart from accommodation tents, the camp has a number of lounge tents for dining and games. There is a bistro dining tent where guests gather to eat, together with a timber cookhouse and second larger dining tent. The family dining tent (which doubles as a special occasion private dining space) flanks the outdoor lounge that surrounds the exterior side an an immense double-sided fireplace the warms the cookhouse.
The nearby games tent hosts children and families playing vintage and contemporary low-tech games of chance, and by evening, welcomes couples of ultra-romantic candle-lit private dining or after dinner drinks. The activities tent is ironically the place to do nothing on large overstuffed sofas which are perfect for lounging, reading and relaxing. A suitably out-of-the-way billiards tent hosts children by day and becomes a late-night gathering place at night.
Ensuite tents promise king-sized beds plus a queen sofa bed and an ensuite bathroom with heated floor, toilet, double sinks, private outdoor covered shower and plenty of wardrobe space. Electric lights are complimented by a gas stove, vintage oil lamps and candles. Antique furnishings and accessories dominate, alongside down duvets and pillows, white linens and fluffy white cotton towels. Private decks are furnished with Muskova-style chairs offering magnificent views of the busy estuary and the rainforest. Extras include robes, slippers, hair dryer, natural toiletries, sunscreen, inspect repellent, and AC plugs.
Adventure
In the UNESCO-designated Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve, the environment is truly, gloriously, authentically wild, and there are abundant opportunities for adventure, education and natural enrichment, promising a particularly different and memorable holiday for children.

A large waterfront deck, warmed by the sun and cooled by ocean breezes, invites pre-and post-treatment napping, whilst cedar hot tubs are perfect for wildlife-watching by day and star-gazing by night.
Two saunas, built from cedar and heated by wood-burning stoves also offer superb views. There is an extensive menu of massages including Thai, shiatsu, ashiatsu and hot stone , together with toning facial and body treatments.
