A private island paradise just two miles north of Antigua
Also known as Long Island, Jumby Bay Island is a stunning 300-acre private Caribbean enclave located just two miles north of Antigua.
The resort features 40 tastefully decorated rooms and luxury vacation villas spread across the private island. Just steps away from pristine white beaches, each suite is a tranquil oasis offering spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea. This exclusive luxury Caribbean resort embodies both the beauty of nature and the tradition of elegance with inspiring surroundings and simple sophistication.
There are also Private Estate Homes dotted around the island. Varying in size from 3 – 8 bedrooms, the Villas and Private Estate Homes are all different but equally stunning in their location and general specifications.
Exploring: any number of boat charters can be taken locally, as well as trips to the mainland via the hotel’s shuttle boat, or privately should you so wish. Why not combine a stay here with Jumby’s sister prooperty, Little Dix Bay, in the idyllic British Virgin Islands?
Dining: options are varied, interesting and of high standard. The Estate House is the resort’s main restaurant. This former plantation house was once the centerpiece of the island’s sugar plantation, and reopened in November 2016 following a one-year, six-million-dollar restoration. The new Estate House includes a main restaurant and the 1830 Bar with three new private dining rooms as well as a wine room all inspired by the home’s rich history and island traditions. Other options range from an open-air restaurant to a casual beach shack for toes-in-the-sand dining and a beach bar.
Antigua Sailing Week: expect to see English Harbour speckled with sailboats of every kind as spectators from around the world come to follow the races and soak up the party spirit. Insider tip: come a week early to catch the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, which each year kicks off the sailing season with a spectacle of tall, elegant sail ships from a bygone era, many of them from the early 1900s.
Private yacht charter: for the ultimate in private sea excursions, guests can charter the resort’s luxury yacht, “Yennecot” a 45-foot custom-built catamaran that comes with Jumby Bay’s own certified crew, trained to US Coast Guard safety standards.
Stingray City: an interactive eco-tour where guests can swim and play with Southern Stingrays in a safe and controlled environment. Located in the calm waters of Mercers Creek Bay, the secure Stingray Habitat, just 15 minute from Jumby Bay’s dock, is a natural home to more than 30 Southern Stingrays as well as countless colorful tropical fish and stunning species of corals. With waters shallow enough for visitors to stand up in, guests can explore marine life to their heart’s content. No experience is needed; guests do not even need to be able to swim to participate.
