The Origin
Founded by health and fitness oriented visionaries, Atmantan was built as the ultimate wellness stop for guests looking to scale new personal heights of wellness. Sharmilee Agarwal Kapur as a pranic healer brings energy medicine and conviction to Atmantan, while Nikhil Kapur is a fitness enthusiast and ironman triathlete, who brings wellness and methodical planning to the centre. Experienced therapists, doctors and healers committed to creating deep and lasting transformations for its lucky guests. Warm Indian hospitality runs through the veins of the stunning retreat, set on the hills of Maharashtra, near Mumbai.
The Retreat
A four-hour drive southeast of Mumbai, the retreat is also accessible via helicopter into Aamby Valley and a one-hour drive from there.
97 rooms are set in blocks of eight, with four on the ground floor featuring a garden and verandah (who knew Verandah is a Hindi word, as is bungalow and juggernaut…) and balconies for the upper level. The rooms are spacious (40m2) and bathrooms include indulgent sunken tubs and a separate walk-in rain shower on the opposite wall. House-keeping services are excellent in the resort, with rooms cleaned spotlessly everyday, a constant supply of fresh fruit and a turndown service during dinner.
The Mango Tree Villa stands as the majestic One-Bedroom Suite Villa at Atmantan, with its own Infinity Salt Pool overlooking the lake, plus a Gymnasium, couple Spa Room, Infra-Red Sauna, and Steam facilities along with a butler’s pantry. The en-suite bathroom is thronged by a walk-in wardrobe at one end and a refreshing open-to-sky outdoor shower at the other end. The entire villa wows with 270-degree views of the majestic Sahyadri Mountains and the blue Mulshi Lake waters, and the floor-to-ceiling glass walls encourage you to walk out onto its horizon-touching porch. The villa even has its own gravity-defying pagoda which brings splendour to in-room dining. The adjoining garden encompasses the rich landscape of the land and complements the utmost privacy of this villa. The interiors are elegant with inlaid marble, warm wooden panelling, ornately upholstered furniture, soothing artefacts and twinkling chandeliers.
The retreat also features a glorious outdoor fresh water swimming pool (no chlorine), an indoor salt water pool, a yoga studio, doctors consultation wing, excellent gym, table tennis, crazy golf, pool table and subbuteo.
The Dining
The Dining Pavilion hosts the retreat’s three restaurants, all serving nutritious, therapeutic, fine-dining cuisine. Dining in the resort is purely vegetarian and excellent quality. Every meal is entirely bespoke to you and prescribed by your personal doctor to the kitchen, mixed in with various digestive shots and probiotics to fully enhance your digestion.
At VISTARA, meaning ‘spectacular view’, doctor-prescribed, entirely-bespoke meals are served to individuals, mixed in with various digestive shots and probiotics to fully enhance your digestion. Upholstered in sky shades, and encompassing sweeping views of the lake, VISTARA offers guests both indoor and alfresco (outdoor) seating overlooking the pristine Mulshi Lake.
TÉ-JUS, The Juice Bar, focuses on inner energy and serves epicurean healthy delights prepared a-la-minute using farm fresh produce. The myriad colours and gilded patterns of Té-jus are inspired by the varied moods and personalities of the Atmantan guest, as they choose to indulge in a soothing cup of herbal tea or a replenishing liquid concoction. Guests can relax and sip serenity in the afternoons and evenings at this bistro and enjoy the breath-taking 360 degrees terraced vistas of the lake, valley and mountains.
Meaning ‘sparkling night sky’, Chantara is the alfresco barbeque lounge that serves innovative grills and interactive experiences, allowing guests to unwind here amidst music and sizzling wellness cuisine. With a starry décor and an ambience as free as the night sky, Chantara brings forth enthralling evenings of leisure while indulging in mindful meals.
The Wellness
The retreat’s team of doctors collaborate to prepare an integrated program for guests’ specific objectives, using various modalities including Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy medicine and Pranic healing to address the underlying cause of any ailments. With their deep understanding of this integrated approach, they deliver result-oriented retreats to all guests who come for disease treatment, management and reversal for conditions such as metabolic syndrome disorders, diabetes, auto-immune conditions, poor immunity, gut health, stress and anxiety.
The Physiotherapy Wing is the home of a plethora of remedial services right from postural assessment and physical analysis, to various manual and movement therapies that go a long way towards amending impairments, next door to the state-of-the-art Shakti gym.
Atmantan have created special chemical-free salt pools that are safe, hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly and aura-cleansing in nature! The indoor salt pool is an enclosed temperature-controlled, chemical-free salt water pool with a vitality shower on the second level of the Wellness Pavilion. The outdoor salt pool is an open-air infinity salt water pool with views of the lake and mountains- also a great place for sunbathing and reading amidst nature sounds and chirping birds.
Therapies here are based on the concept that our bodies have the innate capacity to self-heal, and through the optimal channelling of a body’s own energies, the benefits are manifold. The therapy wing occupies an entire floor and offers remedies that span the schools of traditional Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Chinese Medicine and Energy Healing. Each guest’s consulting doctor will prepare a personalised programme with treatments prescribed to suit individual health profiles and objectives. Treatments include acupressure, aromatherapy treatments, the Tao Chi Nei Tsang treatment, the Shirodhara, Udwarthanam, hot stone therapies, purifying body polishes, cocooning wraps, holistic anti-ageing facials and the Pranic chakra scan and cleanse. All therapies are medically and scientifically researched, and doctor-prescribed only after mandatory health checks.
